The Danube in Lower Austria Wachau-Nibelungengau-Kremstal Kamptal-Wagram Tullner Donauraum Wagram Römerland Carnuntum-MarchfeldWith vineyards as far as the eye can see and marvellous views of the blue Danube, you can explore the warming sunshine and dry trails around the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wachau from April until late October. On the border between the Waldviertel and Mostviertel regions, the climate around the Danube is very temperate - dry and sometimes rugged trails on the southern side of the mountain slopes, lots of forest floor and earth in the north. A new MTB network has been opened in the region around the Jauerling. The tours are characterised by a colourful and varied mix. The 20 MTB tours, from easy to difficult, with breathtaking views, varied routes in a unique landscape are a true Eldorado for mountain bikers.
The 20 MTB routes around the Jauerling-Wachau Nature Park are an Eldorado for nature and sports enthusiasts and offer numerous opportunities for sporty biking experiences. From more relaxed sections to challenging climbs and rapid descents: the region around the Jauerling has something to offer for every biker. The well-signposted routes lead through forests, across meadows and past picturesque villages. The summit of the Jauerling offers spectacular views over the Wachau and the Danube. The effort of the ascent is rewarded with unforgettable moments.
There are now 14 trails from the Göttweiger Berg down into the valley, as natural as possible, almost like hiking trails, without big jumps or installations.
At Trailwerk Wachau there is a large selection of different routes available, there is something for everyone - for beginners and for professionals. If you enjoy flowing trails with sometimes higher root or stone steps, this is the right place for you. Stamina for up to 1,100 m of elevation gain per day at a moderate uphill pace is required. The ascents are mainly on forest roads. It is best to park your car at car park 5 of the Göttweiger Stift, where the base of the trail area with an overview board of the routes and a bike service station is located.
In Persenbeug in the Nibelungengau is the start of these two mountain bike tours, which will delight nature lovers. They lead over gentle meadows and through dense forests, mostly on forest roads. There are always wonderful views of the majestic Danube.
