With almost 2,000 years of history Nikolaihof is the oldest winery in Austria. It was one of the first in the world that begun working by biodynamic principles according to the regulations of the Demeter Association.
No herbicides, pesticides, fertilisers or synthetic sprays are used in the vineyards. The grapes are harvested by hand, fermented with their wild yeasts and stored in big, old Austrian oak-casks up to 20 years.
The organic-certified Nikolaihof Wine Tavern offers guests a traditional and festive range of rooms, as well as an enchanting atmosphere in the courtyard under the linden tree. A perfect venue for a splendid celebration and a wonderful ambience for weddings, birthdays and company parties. Fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs are mainly grown in the Nikolaihof-garden or sourced from regional farmers. Besides biodynamic grapes various other fruits of Nikolaihof’s garden and vineyards are processed into delicious, high-quality products. You will find traditional ones such as Wachau apricot jam and elderflower syrup, but also unique rarities like Johanni-nuts in walnut liquor, or fruits in mustard, as well as Christine Saahs’ famous cook books.
