In many households, the kitchen has become more and more the centre of life, the center of social togetherness. This homely kitchen flair can also be found in the tavern "Schwarze Kuchl" in the middle of the city centre of Krems. Named after the historic Rauchkuchl, which was uncovered in the course of reconstruction work in the 1920s. The kitchen team around host Andreas Macher spoils guests with an excellent selection of traditional and down-to-earth dishes. Up and down the river, the house specialties are appreciated: the Wachau goulash with single-brew, egg and cucumber and the veal cream goulash with nockerln.
Culinary highlight in Krems
The Black Cake has even more delicious delicacies to offer. Offal, salad variations or the homemade cheese spaetzle with roasted onions and green salad are gladly ordered and served in style at the inn. The majority of high-quality products are sourced from local producers. Well-kept fruity wines from our own cultivation and house-draught beer round off the offer. In the summer months, the small Schanigarten in the middle of the pedestrian zone is the social center. Time seems to stand still here, and the credo of the tavern becomes visible: 'We don’t live to eat; we eat to live. " Because with excellent food our life becomes bit by bit more worth living.
