Austria's first and so far only bee park is located in Klein-Pöchlarn. In this world of experience designed with great attention to detail around honey bees and the life of bee colonies, you will find all the important information about bee pasture plants, wild bee nesting aids, a picnic area with a snack garden and information boards to explore for yourself.
Over 20 information and interactive honeycombs in the bee pavilion offer all sorts of interesting facts and curiosities about the life of bees on two levels - downstairs for children, upstairs for adults. Did you know that the buzzing of the busy bees comes from 250 wing beats per second? That a bee can pull 350 times its body weight over a flat surface? That a queen bee only makes one trip out of the hive, namely her “nuptial flight”? You can find out this and much more in the bee pavilion.
The individual honeycomb stations are illustrated, some for reading, some for smelling, some for listening, and some are movable and interactive. The production deals with the honey bee, its life, its pollination performance and its products, as well as the history of beekeeping, the death of bees and its causes, bee protection and BEE-conscious consumption, the role of wild bees and the BEE factor in our ecosystem.
In the Bee-Bar you can enjoy the wonderful view over the Danube from sunrise to sunset with a good coffee or a glass of wine and a drink.
