The Gasthaus Zum Alten Zollhaus is actually a former customs house with a small integrated museum. The Barenth family has been serving good-class cuisine since 1988 directly at the Korneuburg train station. The high-quality restaurant in the heart of Lower Austria focuses on high-quality basic products. In the shady guest garden, the regional claim of the inn can be clearly seen. Geese and chickens can be observed around the biotope, while the friendly service staff pursues its activity. The menu is extensive with regard to the season. The salmon trout fillet on egg sponge-Gröstl with vegetables is grilled to the point. Various goulash variations, the onion roast and baked are tavern classics that guests appreciate.
Tasteful tavern garden
The Wirtshaus Zum Alten Zollhaus also follows an honest line when it comes to sweets: The ice-cream dumplings with berries and whipped cream are just as convincing as the homemade apple strudel and the Kaiserschmarrn with plums. These sweet temptations can be enjoyed in the inn garden or indoors. The wood-panelled walls conjure up a cosy atmosphere and radiate a historical flair. The playground and children’s corner offer plenty of variety for the youngest guests. For hikers are particularly interesting the Danube cycle path and the castle Kreuzenstein, which are in close proximity.
