Ahoi! On to new (culinary) shores. At the Gasthaus zum Goldenen Schiff in Tulln, the kitchen secrets are passed on from generation to generation. The first recipes date from 1862 - many others have since followed. Seasoned with new ideas, the recipe box has developed into a valuable commodity. This has now been held by Thomas Baumgartlinger, who runs the inn in the fifth generation. In the traditional house, the range ranges from classic schnitzel to dishes with international flavors. These protagonists dominate the menu: the table spit with apple kren, ciboulette sauce and potato croutons; the pink roasted onion rostbraten from the Beiried with braised potatoes and the desserts the Holunderblütenparfait with seasonal fruits. The wheel is not being reinvented here, and that’s a good thing.
