Weingut Franz Sauerstingl

The traditional Franz Sauerstingl winery, which has existed since 1794, is run with passion and dedication by Franz Sauerstingl and Andrea. Franz Sauerstingl has been responsible for the vinification of the wines since 2002, so the initials FS not only stand for his name, but also for quality and care.

The unique character of FS wines is the result of mineral and calcareous loess soils, a special climate, state-of-the-art know-how and meticulous work in the vineyard and wine cellar. The sandy-loamy soil of the Wagram, the loess, offers ideal conditions for deep-rooted vines, which always find sufficient water and precious nutrients here. The Wagram, a chain of hills along the northern bank of the Danube, offers an excellent “terroir” for Roter Veltliner, Blauer Zweigelt and the wines of the Burgundy family. Grüner Veltliner, the winery's main variety, develops ideally on the loess soil and is offered in four different varieties, Löss I to IV.
