She is considered a landmark of the region: the Venus of Willendorf. The Gasthof zur Venus, named after her, is located in the centre of the World Heritage Site in Willendorf. It looks back on a similarly long history. The stone Venus statue was discovered in 1908. The walls of the inn were first mentioned in a document in 1824. In its early days, the building probably served the post office as stables for horses, after which it was probably converted into a bakery. In short, the inn is a piece of regional history and today a meeting place for guests to indulge in culinary delights. The credo of the landlord brothers Florian and Christian Mistelbauer is ‘down-to-earth and regional’. They source their ingredients and spices from the fertile area around Willendorf. Sometimes the Waldviertel fisherman brings the fish specialities or the hunter the best game. Dining is particularly popular on the terrace, the centrepiece of the inn. The view of the apricot gardens, the Danube and the 1000-Eimerberg is also guaranteed from the indoor pavilion.

Wachau as a source

The search for the right wine accompaniment is obsolete. Here in the Wachau, guests sit at the source. With a total of 180 seats, the inn also offers the perfect setting for larger celebrations. Whether weddings, company parties or family celebrations of all kinds - the rooms are available for hire. Overnight accommodation is available in the six comfortable guest rooms.
